Tony and Dakota talk to owner of Big City Cars, Bobby Bolen!Coincidentally, Tony, Bobby, and Dakota all grew up around the Kendallville area and settled in Fort Wayne.Bobby talked about what it was like growing up on government assistance while living at the Carriage House apartments in Kendallville. He talked about how he lied about his age to get his his first job detasseling corn. Bobby went from high school directly into the trailer factory industry where he could make decent money.Bobby discovered car sales and got some mentorship from his manager, Shane Householder.He learned how to become a quality car salesman and eventually a sales manager.Bobby talked about the trap of making a lot of money and spending a lot of money by living a lavish lifestyle.Bobby got saved his money and flipped houses on the side.Bobby sold his big luxurious house during the 2008 crash to go live in a small apartment in Huntington. He put his equity and savings to work by becoming a small percentage owner of a car dealership.Bobby started his own dealership with some partners and after some growing pains, the dealership started to make some money.Right around the time that the dealership started doing well, Bobby’s wife filed for divorce and Bobby’s business partner went to prison.Bobby told Tony and Dakota about the ups and downs of his entrepreneurial endeavors and the eventual success of his various businesses.
